Client FAQ: Closure of SCT Medical Clinics 

 

When will the SCT Medical Centers officially close?

The SCT Medical Clinics will permanently close on December 31, 2025. Please note that the Safety Division of SCT Operations is not affected by this change and will continue to operate as usual.

Will there be any interruption in service before the close date?

SCT Medical will continue to conduct most occupational health services until December 31, 2025. Please note, SCT Medical Clinic will not be providing any toxicology or laboratory services after December 22, 2025.

Does this impact both SCT Medical clinic locations?

Yes, both SCT medical clinics located in Parma and downtown Cleveland will be closing on December 31, 2025.

Please note that the Safety Division of SCT Operations is not affected by this change and will continue to operate as usual.

Why is this happening?
Due to ongoing challenges optimizing operations amid a difficult business environment, we made the tough decision to close the medical clinics while streamlining the organization to focus on our safety services.

Is our current agreement valid with Health Express?

Yes, your current agreement is valid with Health Express. Health Express can provide the services you were receiving with SCT Medical and at the same cost. Please work directly with Flannery Suvak for any required updates to your agreement. At the very least, the current pricing structure you have with SCT Medical will be honored by Health Express for at least 6 months from the date of SCT Medical closure.

Did Health Express acquire SCT Medical?
No. SCT Medical is closing December 31, 2025. Health Express is a preferred partner to continue your occupational health services. The decision on how to move forward, including where you wish to continue services, is entirely yours.

How can our employees and/or other individuals access their records and test results in the future?
After December 31, 2025, all of the SCT Medical occupational health test results and records will be transferred to Health Express, where the records will be securely maintained in accordance with all Federal and State laws and regulations.  Employees and other individuals can contact Health Express at christine@healthexpressuc.com or reach out to any Health Express clinic location to submit a request to access their records and personal health information.  Upon written authorization, they will be able to obtain a copy of their records, or direct that they be transferred to a provider of their choice.

How long will our records be available?
Records will be retained in accordance with Federal and State laws. Current OSHA regulations require that employee medical records be preserved and maintained for at least the duration of employment plus thirty (30) years, unless otherwise provided by law.

How do we access our records if we don’t use Health Express for our occupational health services?
Upon your written authorization you will be able to obtain a copy of your records or direct that they be transferred to your personal physician or another occupational health service provider. You may make such a request to SCT Medical up until December 31, 2025. Thereafter, the SCT medical records will be stored at Health Express and they will be able to provide access or transfer of your records as you direct.

Who is Health Express? Why are they the preferred partner?

Over the past several months, SCT Medical worked to secure a partner that we are confident will provide the high level of quality care and service that our customers have come to expect.

Health Express' owners, M. Hamed, M.D., and A. Ali, M.D., founded Health Express Urgent Care and Occupational Health Centers in 2014 in Parma, OH, after observing a need for affordable, reliable, and accessible health care in Northeast Ohio. They noticed that if a patient was unable to see their primary doctor, their only choice was often the emergency room.

As our patients recognized our commitment to providing outstanding, affordable, and top-rated medical care, we became dedicated to serving more communities. As our owners are committed to serving the Northeast Ohio community, we opened our Avon Lake, OH facility in 2017. We expanded to facilities in Mayfield Heights, OH, and North Ridgeville, OH, in 2019. We most recently opened an office in a very underserved area of Cleveland on Pearl Rd in 2022, and in December 2023, we opened an office in the heart of Shaker Heights. We also began offering virtual care (telemedicine) visits, available daily from the convenience of your own home.

How do we get set up with Health Express?

Is there a deadline for choosing where we continue services?

SCT Medical will close on December 31, 2025. You can choose where you access your services at any time. The choice is yours and can be made at any time.

Will any of SCT’s employees be with Health Express?

Flannery Suvak, VP/GM of Health Services, and Dr. Hanahan, Medical Review Officer, will join Health Express.

How does this impact SCT Operations Safety?

The Safety Services division of SCT Operations will continue to operate as usual.

How will billing be handled up until the closure date? How is billing handled after SCT Medical is closed?

SCT Medical will continue to handle billing for all services rendered prior to its close date. All outstanding invoices must be paid to SCT Medical.
